Blokout
An open source Blockout clone featuring 3D OpenGL graphics
What is it?
Blokout is an open source Blockout clone
featuring 3D OpenGL graphics. If you don't know the original Blockout
it could be shortly described as 3D Tetris. If you don't know Tetris
either you have completely missed this famous game genre based on
falling blocks... Go download some Tetris clone now!
Blokout was originally written as an assignment work for a computer graphics course held in Helsinki University of Technology in 1998-1999. It was written by Johannes Lehtinen and Petri Salmi. However, it was not until in autumn 2000 that the distribution package was built thanks to couple of people asking when the source code would be available. No major modifications have been made since the submission of the assignment work so it is not as finished as it could be.
Where can I get it?
The Blokout source code is distributed under the
GNU General Public License.
You can download the source code distribution below or access the
Subversion repository directly. There is also a
precompiled binary for Microsoft Windows.
Subversion repository is available at:
http://svn.jlehtinen.net/svn/blokout
Blokout has been succesfully compiled on Linux + Mesa, SGI IRIX and Sun Solaris. It probably compiles on most Unix platforms at least if GCC is used as the C compiler. Since v0.1.1 it can also be cross-compiled for Microsoft Windows using MinGW.
Distributions:
blokout-0.1.1.tar.gz, source code distribution (203 KiB)blokout-0.1.1-win32.zip, Windows binary and source (424 KiB)
You must have the following installed to compile the source code distribution.
